Road trip from Isili to Tomb of Giants Aiodda (Nurallao)

The drive from Isili to Nurallao is one of the most beautiful road trips in Sarcidano. 

Amazing landscapes, wildlife, archaeological and historical remains are on the road.

 

Nuraghi are everywhere on Sardinia. The towers are over 7.000!

If you want to be bemused by the Nuragic civilization, take a look at the Nuraghe Is Paras (Isili). It is a well preserved megalithic construction, built during 1.500 B.C., which inside is a Tholos with a conical roof.

The lake Is Barrocus (Isili) is a perfect place for canoeing, cycling and walking. Beside the river called Fiume Mannu there is a perfect rocky complex for adventurous climbers. 

I really love the picturesque nature of this route.

On the other side of the lake, you can see San Sebastiano's Church which is located on top of a big rock in the middle of the lake.

Springtime in Sardinia is gorgeous.

The tomb of Giants Aiodda, built during 1.500 B.C., is located at Nurallao. 

Many prehistoric findings have been done around this tomb, such as menhirs (2.500 B.C.). 

This was a sacred place to our ancestors.

The surrounding countryside is full of wonderful wild orchids, asphodelus and many others flowers.
